Lights, Camera, Action
Hi! I’m Louise Mouranche, a French student who came to Sainte-Anne because I wanted to experience a new academic environment within the Quebec education system. My interest in the social sciences and my love of challenges have led me to the Honors Program of 2025 -2026.

Inside my world...
passions

“We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion.” - N.H. Kleinbaum, Dead Poets Society
Reading has been part of my life since the very beginning, thanks to my mum and my grandparents who are big readers. Literature was a way to escape reality and discover countless universes, worlds, peoples and creatures. Beyond the stories themselves, I am very fond of the physical object (the pages, the cover, the smell). I love all kinds of books, science-fiction, fantasy, true stories, or thrillers. People could think that this passion is boring or irrelevant, but literature is what brings me together. Thanks to it I have a lot of vocabulary and a rich imagination. Literature is one of the greatest things made by humans for humans. I’m really convinced that if people read more books the world would be a better place. I could talk for hours about literature (much to my friends’ dismay), but I think this photo of me (reading the Harry Potter's saga for the second time at 10 years old) speaks for itself.

"Cinema is my home. I think I’ve always lived in it."
― Agnès Varda
I have breathed and lived cinema since I was a child. I watch as many movies as I can, and there are so many of them it’s fantastic. I’m touched by everything in movies, the music, the mood, the colors, the sets, the images and the acting. That includes animated films, which move me in a unique way, especially the poetic and dreamlike worlds of Michel Ocelot and Hayao Miyazaki, whose work I deeply admire. Old movies are my favorites, like Le diner de cons, La grande vadrouille, The sound of music, Notting Hill, but truly, I find beauty in all forms of cinema. I also love acting. Acting teaches us a lot of things. For instance: patience (when you must re-do a scene for the twelfth time), humility (get corrected a lot by people), determination (to give the best of our performance) and confidence (by doing what you love most). From the technical to the emotional, every layer of cinema — editing, acting, camera, script — sparks my curiosity. I started editing in 2020, made my first “real” short movie in 2022, did a one-week internship in a film production company in 2023 and bought my first professional camera in 2024. Now I try to film, edit and write every time I have the occasion.

“And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.” ―Friedrich Nietzsche
In my family, if things don’t go well we put music, and when things go well, we also put music. Music has helped me get through the most difficult times in my life. It has always been more than just background sound, I find stories in melodies and emotions in harmonies. What I love most is how music carries memory, emotion, and meaning. For instance when I hear Moi C’Est de Camelia Jordana, I see my sister and me dancing in my parents’ bedroom. I draw inspiration from all kinds of music — classical scores, old chansons, soundtracks, or folk ballads. One day I came across the saying “music is the soundtrack of your life” and I couldn’t agree more.

Beyond the Main Stage
Theatre
It’s been 10 years since I started acting. I have been acting since I was 8 years old, but I have only done major plays since 2022. When I put on my costume, I become suddenly that little girl again - the one who was so excited to show her parents that she was no longer performing only in the living room, but on a real stage. Last year I played Harry in Mamma Mia! The Musical, and it was really a huge step, because it was the first time I was part of a musical with a big budget, and with a big audience. Doing theatre made me more confident, it helps me regulate my emotions and channel them toward a clear goal. It is also a way to escape reality and to become someone new.
Sport
I played sport my whole life, skiing is my favorite, along with basketball and tennis. I ski since I can walk and I played tennis 8 years. My debut in Sainte Anne also allowed me to start running, and even though I am not very good, I like it and try to do it at regular pace. Despite my love for sport, I’m not very fond of competition, which is why I never applied to tennis or ski competitions. For me sport is the only thing where I do not have to be better than someone else or to have high pressure to succeed. I simply do sport for me, my mental health and physical health.
Guitare
I did 8 years of guitar, first classic guitar, than folk guitar and then electric guitar. I’m very attached to my three guitars, because they each represent a different part of my life. My teacher insisted that I learn music theory, which I did (not exactly out of passion ;) and for that I’m grateful because it is super useful. Here in Lachine I try to play guitar every day. Unfortunately it's not my electric guitare - that one is in France.
Bourstad
I did bourstad during my second session of cegep, which was really interesting. I am not a big fan of finance, but I learned a lot of useful things and it piqued my curiosity about it. I liked being able to read and interpret the curve.

Portfolio

NYC 2024 - I went to New York in 2024 and I had the chance to visit the United Nations. It was a great experience because I learned a lot of things about peacekeeping, human rights, and sustainable development. The building was really impressive, and I admired the frescoes and other types of arts inside. The assembly halls were really remarkable, and I liked the inspiring atmosphere made by the weight of the decisions taken there.
INTERDISCIPLINARY WEEK - I visited the Quebec's Parlement in Quebec and I had the opportunity to attend the National Assembly's question period to hear the deputies discuss among themselves, which was interesting. The exterior of the Parliament of Quebec is truly beautiful, with its large stone facades, intricate architectural details, and statues that reflect the province’s rich history. Also, Quebec city is my favorite place (along side with Montreal ;) !
RESEARCH PROJECT -Influencing Factors on Student’s Choice for Cegep was my paper for research project. It was interesting and stimulating because the subject was something I was really interested on. I liked reading scientifique papers (even if some were really long), with real-life numbers and detailed description. Plus, influencing factors are truly something I am interested in. What fascinated me the most was realizing how many things — like family, friends, social expectations, or even our own fears — can influence our decisions without us always noticing. It made me think about how we make choices in life and how much of them truly come from ourselves.

Volunteering
* I’m part of the association Unissons les coeurs since 2023, which create “gift box” (beauty, manga, cinema, harry potter) to give to teenagers and children laying in hospital bed for a long time. I am an active member of this association, handing out fliers, making gift wrap (raising money to buy gift), stick stickers in different cities, making propaganda, etc.

* I did charity work three times a year (since 2020) at my French school during important events.
* Volunteering at Cegep Sainte- Anne is also something I do as much as possible, because it allows me to spend time with my friends, meet new people and gain experience.
